If you’ve ever wondered what transportation and road improvement projects might be on tap for Hillsboro or Beaverton, or anywhere in Oregon really, consider having a look at ODOT’s Transportation Project Tracker.
The Tracker allows you to do several things:
We’ll start with the obvious. The map allows you to see the ongoing or upcoming projects in your own neighborhood (or perhaps your potential neighborhood if your home shopping).
You can also search by year of the project, allowing you to get a glimpse of the scheduled projects.
Less obviously, when you click on a particular construction project, say the development of Cornelius Pass or TV Highway, it gives a quick overview of the project as well as other important details. It highlights things like budget costs, whether the project was on-time or not, and which congressional districts are represented.
Most surprising to me, the project displays actual people you can contact for more information about the specific project.
You can also search by different types of projects such as congestion improvement or bicycle lane improvements.
As of this writing, the map does have its limits. For example, searching by either “On Budget” or “Over Budget” turns up almost no results. (It seems like it should be one or the other, doesn’t it?” But maybe we’re missing something.)
Nonetheless, this could be a helpful starting point if you’re curious about local transportation projects here in Hillsboro or other parts of Oregon.
