As someone who lives in the neighboring Aloha netherworld, not quite Beaverton, not quite Hillsboro, where my zip code always seems contested, it’s interesting to see the birth of a new area: Hillsboro South, where everything is shiny and new — even the zip code – 97129!
New homes and apartments flanked by new cars. Every square inch of land seems to have been accounted for. No cracks in the sidewalks or streets. No home remodeling projects. Even the trees are young.
The neighborhood and projects are coming along.
Thus far we’ve had soccer games at Tamarack, jogs under the Cornelius bridge that spans the Butternut creek wetland corridor, MRI scans at the new Providence location, visits at the new OnPoint branch, and tried out Shake Shack and Insomnia.
It’s nice to see people filling the spaces with activity and we’ll be especially curious to see how residents make them their own.
Are residents allowed to paint houses different colors? Grow gardens? Chalk hopscotch on the sidewalks? Or host a lemonade stand or yard sale? Funky lawn ornaments? Honest questions from an honest soul.
