Catalytic Converter Thievery: A few notes.
- Thefts of catalytic converters have increased because of the increasing value of the rare metal materials included.
- So much in fact that the Oregon Senate has advanced a bill (Senate Bill 803), to try to hamper the market for stolen converters. See here.
- Park in well-lit, secure places if possible. Consider adding motion sensor lighting to your driveway.
- If yours is stolen, it would be covered under the comprehensive coverage (minus the deductible) on your auto insurance policy. Double check that you have comprehensive coverage and the amount of your deductible.
